The American Red Cross is dedicated to preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies both locally and globally. The United Way provides $70,000 of funding toward Disaster Relief Services Program and $22,000 toward the Service to Armed Forces program.
The Disaster Relief Services program aims to improve the health and independence of Chautauqua County residents by virtue of it being the only agency or government program that provides immediate, reliable, and consistent disaster relief to the county. Providing:
· Post disaster recovery for individuals and families
· Direct assistance-food, clothing, shelter
· Preparedness training
The Service to Armed Forces initiative strives to improve the health of both active and reserve military personnel and their families by making available:
· Pre and post deployment counseling
· Veteran referral services
· Emergency communication services
