The Allegheny Highlands Boy Scouts Council is a premier youth-serving organization in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties in New York, and in McKean and Potter counties in Pennsylvania. The Council serves Cub Scouts from 1st-5th grades, Boy Scouts from ages 11-18, and Explorers and Venturers for high school aged boys and girls.  Through scouting experiences, they strive for the very best for all the young people in all our communities.

By mobilizing the power of volunteers and generosity of donors, the American Red Cross of Southwestern New York offers immediate emergency assistance for local disaster relief. Other services include education for the prevention and treatment of injuries, baby-sitting, water safety, first aid, and CPR classes, and service to military families who need advocacy, emergency leave requests, and case assistance.

Providing a daily program for frail or impaired older adults, the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers help to enhance the quality of life for our community's seniors. The program is aimed at delaying institutionalization for the elderly and providing respite for daily caregivers.

CASAC leads Chautauqua County's efforts to prevent alcohol and other drug problems in the community. CASAC provides awareness, prevention education and intervention programs regarding alcohol and other drugs to students, parents, school faculty, other professionals, individuals and families affected by chemical dependency, local organizations and the community-at-large.  Evidence-based prevention programs are available for students in elementary, middle and high school as well as for parents of school-aged children.

For over 85 years, CBA Vision Rehabilitation Services has been helping visually impaired people learn how to be active members of their community. Services include social casework, low vision rehabilitation, and orientation and mobility instruction as part of a holistic approach to safety and independent living. CBA also conducts preschool vision screenings and Healthy Vision Educational Programs at community and workplace health fairs.

Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center, Inc. (CLCCC) is a community-based childcare program that enhances the development of the whole child in a safe, healthy, positive, and nurturing learning environment.  CLCCC operates three sites in Chautauqua County (Mayville, Falconer, and Chautauqua), providing high quality child care and education for children ages six weeks – 5 years and before/after school care and full day summer programming for children ages 5 – 12 years.

Education, advocacy, and athletics are the three major themes of Chautauqua Striders. The Lighted Schoolhouse program provides one-on-one and group tutoring for students, along with support, motivation, and counseling. Project REACH is a neighborhood-based family and youth outreach program, while the mentoring program offers guidance and career exploration for teens.

The Child Advocacy Program (CAP) brings together a team of community agencies and professionals to create a child-first approach to physical and sexual abuse. Coordinating investigative and intervention services, including trauma-focused counseling, in a child-friendly setting ensures that children are not re-victimized by the very systems designed to help and protect them. CAP also provides education and awareness to county residents in order to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, through the nationally renowned Stewards of Children campaign.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates of Chautauqua Co., Inc. is a volunteer based program whose trained volunteers provide advocacy to abused and neglected children in Chautauqua County who have been thrust into the Family Court System.

Through it's Partners for Children program, Family Service and four local school districts provide mental health counseling for at-risk students and their families. Family Service also offers a Drop Out Prevention program at Jamestown Public Schools, and Office Based Counseling for individuals, families, and groups.

Hospice services become an option when curative therapy is not available, or when an individual chooses not to accept or continue treatment. Designed to address the emotional, social, spiritual, and physical needs of both the patient and family, most services are provided in your own home. Inpatient care in a local hospital is available when necessary. Services are based on each family's needs and desires and may include an attending physician, visiting nurses, pastoral counseling, social work, rehabilitation therapy, volunteers, home health aides, drugs, medical equipment and supplies.

Joint Neighborhood Project operates an emergency food pantry, in addition to home, budget, and employment guidance and referrals. Through a Spanish Outreach program, JNP assists its neighbors with daily living needs, advocacy, and interpretation. Services for children include the after school and summer youth programs.

Meals on Wheels serves hot and cold meals five days a week to the frail, elderly and homebound, filling their daily nutritional needs and also providing some social contact they would not otherwise receive.

The Relief Zone operates a community youth center in the Frewsburg area in order to provide an alternative to dangerous or delinquent activities for youth. United Way helps to fund the Jumpstart After School Program which provides affordable childcare for working parents.


 

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides both residential and non-residential services for victims of domestic violence and abuse, including the operation of the Agnes Home, an emergency shelter for homeless and abused women and their children. Other services provided include counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and rape, emergency assistance through the Salvation Army's food pantry, which includes case management and a referral system.



YMCA

The YMCA provides a variety of youth activities, family programs, and an after school child-care program. For teenagers, there is a teen leaders club along with other structured, value-driven programs and an outreach effort to recruit at-risk youth into the YMCA and Chautauqua Striders. Children ages 6-months through 18-years can also learn swimming, water safety and lifeguard training.

The YWCA's Kids & Company Child Development Center offers licensed daycare for young children as well as an after-school and summer youth program. The TEAM (Teenage Education and Motherhood) Program provides education and parenting skills for teenage mothers, allowing them to earn a high school diploma while also caring for their infants and toddlers.  The Transitional Housing program provides housing, case management, advocacy and transportation for homeless women and children.
