United Way Partners with Jamestown Young Professionals For Meet Your Match Event
United Way of Southern Chautauqua County is partnering with the Jamestown Young Professionals to co-host the upcoming second annual, “Meet Your Match” volunteer event. The goal of the event is to help connect young community members with engaging volunteer opportunities that range from one time help at fundraising events all the way to serving on a Board of Directors.
Every participant will have the opportunity to “speed date” different local non-profits to understand what their organization is all about face-to-face. There are no commitments; this event exposes the community to volunteer opportunities available and how an individual can get involved.
“Meet Your Match” will take place on Giving Tuesday, November 28 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Shawbucks on West Second Street. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving for non-profits around the world to encourage people to give back to their communities. In celebration of this day, there will be a $10 entry fee. All proceeds will be donated to one of the participating non-profits.
“This event offers a unique spin on engaging young members of the community to get involved. There is a critical need for volunteers and many local non-profits rely heavily on the hours volunteers invest in their organizations,” stated Amber Grekalski, United Way Resource Development Coordinator. “I am thrilled to bring this event back to the community again. Last year, we received positive reviews from many participants and our hope is to continue hosting this event year after year,” continued Grekalski.
