A voluntary early childhood parent education program based o the philosophy that parents are their child's first and most influential teachers. Offers families regularly scheduled personal visits by certified parent educators, group meetings with other parents to share experiences, periodic screenings of children's development for early detection of problems or delays, and links with other community resources. 487-3101 (Jamestown) Family Life Program Cornell Cooperative Ext. Chautauqua Co. The Family Life Program is offered free of charge to Chautauqua County residents who have children in their homes and manage on a limited income (less than or equal to 200% of the povery level). Its focus includes education, information, support groups, telephone support and referral for women and families coping with mental health issues associated with childbearing, both during pregnancy and postpartum. The National Institute on Media and the Family is a resource of information on the influence of electronic media on early childhood education, child development, academic performance, culture and violence and offers a number of unique resources including: movie, television and video game content ratings; media awareness programs; and helpful hints for parents and families to evaluate their media use. ParentCenter and its companion site BabyCenter offer a web resource for new and expectant parents and parents of children ages 2-8 to help you find information and support in caring for a baby, toddler, or child.
