United Way is grateful to the more than 150 men and women of Southern Chautauqua County who so generously give personal gifts of over $1,000 each year. Leadership givers donated over $217,000 to United Way in 2009. These special donors are recognized annually in the United Way Leadership Circle Registry of Givers and in the United Way Annual Report.
Gifts to United Way are tax deductible. The Internal Revenue System has published a booklet about documentation required to deduct your charitable contributions. You can review or download the booklet here.
Alexis de Tocqueville Society
$10,000 and up
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society celebrates the American spirit of voluntary community service observed by a young Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville, during his tour of America in 1831. His writings recognized, applauded and immortalized the spirit with which Americans help each other in times of need. These donors are recognized as members of the national Alexis de Tocqueville Society sponsored by the United Way of America.
Founders Circle
$5,000 - $9,999
The Founders Circle recognizes the commitment and love for this community expressed by the founders of the United Way Leadership Circle, Dr. Lillian Vitanza Ney and the late John D. Hamilton. Lillian and John established this program because they believed the true measure of a person was not what they possessed, but rather what they gave back to the community. Their lives are testimony to these noble values.
Builders Society
$2,500 - $4,999
The Builders Society celebrates the United Way's more than 80-year history of building our caring community. It supports the United Way's emerging role as a leader in bringing together people and programs to improve the quality of life in Southern Chautauqua County.
Stewardship Society
$1,500 - $2,499
The Stewardship Society honors the United Way's vision that each family and individual holds a special place in our society and should be equipped with the skills to succeed. It represents the helping nature inherent in the caretakers of our community.
Leadership Circle
$1,000 - $1,499
The Leadership Circle was founded in 1990 with just nine members. It recognizes genuinely caring people who are helping to guide our community toward the future through meaningful United Way gifts.
Young Leaders Circle
Age 40 or under/$500
The Young Leaders Circle recognizes emerging leaders in our community who are age 40 or under and who generously contribute at least $500 to the annual United Way Campaign.
Leadership contributions may be made by payroll deduction, credit card, cash, check, direct bill, or through a gift of stock. To make a Leadership gift, you may donate online now, print the United Way Leadership Circle pledge card, fill it out, and return it to United Way at 413 North Main St., Jamestown, or call United Way at 483-1561 for more information.
