CBA Vision Rehab Services

CBA Vision Rehabilitation Services strive to enable visually impaired people to be active members of their community and to provide education and screenings to prevent vision loss. United Way provides $16,000 to the Vision Rehabilitation Program and $4,000 to the Preschool Vision Screening Program.

The Vision Rehabilitation Program aims to improve the health and independence of legally blind members of the Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County communities by providing training in: communication systems, personal management, home management, medical management, leisure and recreation, and orientation and mobility Skills. These skills are taught through:

  • Individualized vision rehabilitation plans
  • The teaching of adaptive skills needed for independent living
  • Public education and in-service training

The Vision Screening Program promotes academic success among youth by working with local pre-school programs, head start programs, P-K and Kindergarten Programs in order to facilitate the early detection of vision disorders in children.
