Untied Way Seeking 2017 Joseph H. Mason Award Nominations

United Way of Southern Chautauqua County is now accepting nominations for the Joseph H. Mason Award. Every year, United Way presents the Joseph H. Mason Award to a union member or staff person whose volunteer service to the community honors the spirt of involvement exhibited by late Joseph H. Mason.

Last year, Kyle Sholl and Shawn Tibbitts, members of the IAFF 1772 were recognized as the 2016 Joseph H. Mason Award winners. They are both employed as firefighters for the City of Jamestown and were the first due to receive the award in its 35-year history.

Together, they created the Chautauqua Project as a way to raise money for families battling childhood cancer, specifically to help offset travel expenses or incidentals not covered by insurance. This is just one example of how they made a contribution to the community. Their work inspired their co-workers to nominate them for the Joseph H. Mason Award.

If you know of a union member who is committed to community service, consider nominating them for the 2017 Joseph H. Mason Award.
